Social Anxiety Disorder
Social Anxiety Disorder can best be described as intense worry and anxiety related to the fear of being judged or negatively evaluated in day to day social situations. Beyond shyness, social anxiety disorder can cause significant difficulties in many areas of your life such as work, school, friendships, and romantic relationships. Roughly 15 million adults are impacted by the effects of social anxiety.
Mood Disorders
Mood Disorders, such as Depression and Bipolar Disorder, are characterized by a substantially disruptive change of a person’s day to day mood and emotional state. These changes can appear as overwhelming and debilitating sadness and low mood and/or as a dramatically elevated euphoric or irritable mood. They are generally episodic in nature. Over 21% of American adults are estimated to experience a mood disorder at some point in their lives.
Substance Use Disorders
Substance Use Disorders, or problematic patterns of behavior surrounding the abuse of alcohol and other drugs despite experiencing increasing consequences, can introduce chaos into the lives of those affected. This can create problems at home, work, and school as well as financial, legal, and health problems. Substance use disorders affect more than 20 million adults in the United States. Over 50% of individuals who experience a substance use disorder also experience a co-occurring mental illness.
